Michael Glenn Buist was welcomed back to his heavenly home on January 1st, 2025, (age 75) where he was cared for at the George E. Wahlen Veteran’s Home in Ogden, Utah. He was surrounded by family members who loved him dearly while holding the hand of his eternal sweetheart, Betty Ann.
Michael was born on April 26th, 1949, in Logan, Utah. He graduated from Sky View High School Class of 1967. He attended Utah State University where he was a member of the Persian Rifles until he was called to serve his country proudly as a U.S. Marine in Vietnam (1968-69). He was married and eternally sealed to Betty Ann Auger in the Logan, Utah Temple on May 1st, 1970. Together they welcomed 6 children into their loving yet sometimes irreverent home. As a dedicated provider for his family, he worked in different management opportunities and ultimately found his career as a semi-truck driver. Most notably he spent 28 years with Lazy - Boy company, where he earned multiple million-mile safe driving awards. In his retired years, he continued to serve his country and local community Veterans as a member of the Marine Corps League – CPL Gerald Max Rich - #1352
He cherished his wife, loved his children, and adored his grandchildren/great-grandchildren. His family values him for his example of teaching us not to take life too seriously, to laugh, love, work, care for the downtrodden or those in need, to respect our mother, and most importantly have faith in our Savior Jesus Christ. We will most miss the sacred experiences when he fulfilled his calling as our Family Patriarch by blessing our lives with priesthood blessings, gospel study, and his unwavering testimony in Jesus Christ.
Michael is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and holds the office of High Priest. He had several church callings in which he blessed many lives. Some of his most rewarding callings were Stake missionary, emergency preparedness specialist, Elders quorum President, Counselor in the branch presidency for the Cache County Jail, and most recently as a primary teacher. In addition to his church callings, he served faithfully as a loving and dedicated ministering brother. He lived the gospel of Jesus Christ and enjoyed sharing his testimony with others.
Michael is survived by his wife Betty Ann Buist, his children Jonathan (Billie) Buist, Jeffrey (Charity) Buist, Jamie (Adam) Swa, Julie Buist, Joseph (Brittney) Buist, and Macie Buist, 16 Grandchildren, and 7 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father David Glenn Buist, his mother Donna Larsen Buist, and his older sister Lafawn Buist.
