Michael Earl Degriselles

CLARKSTON, UTAH: Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, Michael Earl DeGriselles, age 70, passed away peacefully at the Alexander Cohen Community Hospice House, Hughson, CA on March 27, 2014 from his battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Michael was born in Pipestone, Minnesota, on June 13, 1943 to William Earl DeGriselles and Lillian Mae Beilke. He married Myrna Goodey in 1967 and they were married for 47 years. He is survived by his wife, Myrna, children Teresa Lynne DeGriselles, Clarkston, Utah and Matthew Vallin (Denise) DeGriselles, Oakley, CA and his five beloved grandchildren, Joshua Thomas DeGriselles, Analisa Marie Green, Aimee’ Lynne Green, Kody Dallas Green and Dakota Summer Green. Two sisters Judith Johnson, Logan, Utah and Carolyn (George) Edlund, Sandy, Utah. Sisters-in-laws Karen Kent, Grand Prairie, Texas, Mary Anne (Robert) Gardner, Deweyville, Utah, Merle (Alan, deceased) Cornish, Weatherford, Texas, Jane (Kim) Sparks, Clarkston, Utah and one brother-in-law Garth Dallas (Heidi) Goodey, Carlsbad, New Mexico and 13 nieces and 10 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Sybil DeGriselles, a brother Paul DeGriselles, father and mother-in-law Dallas Thomas and Sybil (Thompson) Goodey, a sister-in-law Rhonda Goodey. Michael served in the United States Navy as a Signalman from 1961-1965 stationed out of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. After his honorable discharge, Michael came to visit his family in Logan and loved Cache Valley so much he stayed. He worked at the Mode O’Day dress factory in Logan for 7 years, were he met the love of his life; he attended Utah Technical College at night studying Architectural Drafting. Michael and Myrna and family moved to Salt Lake City in 1972 where he worked for the John Clausen, Architectural firm, Monrock Concrete, Inc. and Southland Inc. (7-11) Stores. In 1984 Michael transferred to the Northern California offices of 7-11 stores where he worked as a project manager in the new construction department until his medical retirement. Michael enjoyed working in his woodshop; he built many buildings, furniture and even remodeled their home. But his greatest love was his vegetable and flower gardens; his yard was the envy of the entire neighborhood in California. He was a master of grilling, especially onions and salmon and everyone looked forward to Michael’s visits to Utah for when it was his turn to cook. Michael loved his computer; if he wasn’t in his garden you knew where to find him sending out political emails to all he knew or searching for recipes or playing solitaire or other games. Michael loved his camera’s, taking many pictures everywhere he traveled and spent hundreds of hours in the stands or sidelines of his grandchildren’s sporting events and then posting the photos of the day online for all to enjoy. He loved the Military and History channels and the Food Network on TV and would watch them all day if he could. Michael, his daughter and some of his grandchildren moved back to Clarkston in 2010 preparing their retirement home for when Myrna could join him, he loved Clarkston and now he is at home. Memorial services will be held at noon, Saturday, April, 5, 2014, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, Clarkston, Utah. Interment will be in the Clarkston Cemetery with Military Honors by the American Legion. The family would like to express their thanks to the Alexander Cohn Community Hospice house in Hughson, CA for their kindness and care of Michael.
