Miles Conley Peterson passed away early March 30, 2018, surrounded by his wife and children. Conley was born in Logan on October 16, 1947, to Miles A. and Betty Lou Peterson. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He graduated from Logan High School, and proudly served in the United States Air Force, including a year-long tour in Vietnam.
He continued to serve his country as an aircraft mechanic at Hill Air Force Base. Con’s 33-year career provided amazing opportunities to work on a variety of military aircraft, including F-16s, F-4s, and customer support.
In 1972, Conley married the love of his life, Renae, six months to the day he met her. They built their life together in Providence, raising two kids in the back of a Jeep. Dirt roads called his name – and he answered, including the Easter Jeep Safari, the Rubicon, and Mile-Hi Jeep Club’s Annual All-4-Fun event. He loved elk hunting, heading to the Uinta Mountains with close friends every fall. Con and Renae spent summers of their retirement volunteering with the Gunnison National Forest at the Alpine Tunnel. As Tunnel Host, Conley shared his love of history, the Colorado mountains and off-roading with nearly every visitor.
He is survived by his wife, Renae, two children, Joel (Megan) Peterson and Mandy (Mason) Olsen, and four grandchildren. He’s also survived by his mother, Betty, and siblings Gary (Debbie) Peterson, Luann (Glen) Baker and Carol Peterson Jensen.
