Millicent Carlsen Parkinson

July 15, 1922 — November 23, 2017

Our dear mother, Millicent Carlsen Parkinson, 95, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017 in Logan, Utah.

Millicent was born in Hyrum, Utah to Charles Oliver and Erma Housley Hansen Carlsen, She remembers a happy childhood with wonderful Christmases and great Easter egg hunts at the Hyrum Dam. She attended Lincoln Elementary and graduated from South Cache High School.

She married Grant P. Parkinson in Malad, Idaho on August 26, 1941. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple on July 23, 1953. Together they built home, planted crops, trees, flowers and a garden, and raised their family. They also enjoyed traveling and went on many fishing and camping trips over the years.

Millicent worked at the Boy Scouts of America Service Center in Logan for 18 years. She enjoyed working and made many lifelong friends.

Macular degeneration robbed her of her eyesight and many of her favorite activities such as name extraction, gardening, canning, baking, reading and crocheting.

Millicent and Grant were the parents of four children, Grant (Rosemary), Stephen (Gay), Tim (Christine), and Christina (John Petersen), deceased. They have 20 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

She has one remaining sister, Sherlaine Pritchett, whom she loved dearly and a dear sister-in-law, Joy Carlsen.

Her husband, Grant, her daughter, Christina, and one granddaughter, Sarah Parkinson, preceded her in death, as well as her parents and eight of her nine brothers and sisters.
