Minnie "Mickey" L. Jibson, 93, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, returned to her Father in Heaven on May 14, 2014, in Logan, Utah.
She was born January 10, 1921 in Declo, Idaho, to Seymour and Vera Preston. She was blessed with two brothers and five sisters. Her childhood years were spent in Declo, Idaho where she met and fell in love with her eternal companion, Wallace Jibson. They married on July 8, 1939 in Declo and later sealed in the Logan Temple in 1952. Their early years of marriage were spent in the depression years with time spent apart as Wally spent time overseas in the Navy. After the war they returned to Logan to finish schooling. Mickey worked at City Drug store to help with the finances. They moved to River Heights in 1951, where they resided throughout their lives. She loved living in River Heights and was involved with Wally as he served on the City Council. She was honored in 2010 as River Heights Citizen of the Year for her valued service.
Mickey spent her life in the service of others. She was a wonderful, supportive wife and mother. Mickey served many years with the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and served side-by-side with Wally as a Lion's Club wife. She was active in the LDS Church where she served diligently as Ward and Stake primary president, and many other callings, but her love was working with the young Primary children. She continued that service with the Primary into her 90's, working with the Activity girls. She could also be seen every Friday morning in the Logan Temple where she served many years until her death. Her favorite calling was spending time with her family and being actively involved with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Her love of life, compassionate service and involvement kept her very active until her 93rd year. She loved working in her yard, crocheting baby blankets, cooking, reading and painting.
She is survived by her children, Cathy (Scott) Wilcock of Smithfield, and Ron (Janet) Jibson of North Salt Lake, Utah; eight grandchildren, and twenty-four great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Connie (Floyd) Calkins of Boise, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Danny and Lanny Jibson; brothers, Don and Clair, and sisters, Fern, LaPreal, Robina and GeraDee.
Her family would like to express appreciation to the wonderful people in River Heights and the River Heights 2nd Ward who were so wonderful in always visiting, calling and serving her with so much love and compassion.
