Myrle Albert Dawson

September 6, 1915 — September 1, 2011

On September 1, 2011, Myrle Albert Dawson passed away comfortably in his sleep, just days before his 96th birthday. He was the last of A.J. and Mary Jane Dawson’s children to be welcomed by our Heavenly Father.

He was born September 6th, 1915 in Weston, Idaho. As a young man he lived and worked on the family farm along with his brothers and sisters. While attending Weston High School, he appeared in several plays, played tennis and was on the basketball team. He graduated in 1934 then attended Utah State Agricultural College. In 1934 he went on his mission to Kentucky, North Carolina, and W. Virginia.

Myrle served his country in World War II. In 1942 he married Zella Wheeler, his wife for 54 years, until she passed away in 1996.

He retired from Thiokol in 1981 having worked as foreman. After retiring, his grandchildren, their friends and all the neighbor kids often visited and he gladly took on the job as ‘everyone's grandpa’. Myrle was an avid storyteller as his massive circle of friends and family can attest to. He was beloved by all.

He is survived by his daughter Cathy, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 21 great, great grandchildren and the number keeps growing.

We encourage his many friends to join us at Allen-Hall Mortuary on Saturday, September 10, 2011 from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM for the viewing. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM and burial will follow in the Weston, Idaho Cemetery. Myrle Dawson’s favorite color was yellow. We will be providing a yellow rose and pin for everyone that attends the viewing/ funeral service to put on when celebrating the life of this kind hearted man. If you are unable to attend the services, please feel free to post comments, your favorite memory or anecdote at www.allenmortuaries.net
