Nadine Erickson Bracken

March 17, 1922 — September 23, 2018

Nadine Erickson Bracken passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 23, 2018. During her 96 years on this earth she never forgot a birthday, and it is fitting that she left this life and was reunited with her parents on the birthdate of her mother. Nadine was born on March 17, 1922, in Logan, to Charles and Julia Johnson Erickson. She received her education in Logan, from the Wilson elementary school through Logan High School, graduating with the class of 1940. She then attended classes at Utah State University studying early childhood development.
Nadine married her high school sweetheart, Lynn F. Bracken on March 6, 1942, in the Logan LDS Temple. Their romance started in those early high school days. They enjoyed double dating and many dances at the Dansante with their classmates, who remained some of their closest lifelong friends.
Nadine lived her entire life in the Logan 7th Ward, and she and Lynn raised their family in the same neighborhood where she grew up. They owned and operated B & M Electric Corporation in Logan for over 55 years.
Nadine loved her pioneer ancestry and was a member of the William B. Preston Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Both of her parents were Swedish, and she frequently shared family stories of their coming to Utah and of the trials they experienced. Nadine had a passion and a gift for cooking, and enjoyed entertaining family and guests. She attributed her sense of hospitality to her Swedish heritage.
As an active member of the Logan 7th Ward, Nadine appreciated the many opportunities to serve in the Ward including Junior Sunday School, as well as the Primary, Young Women and Relief Society presidencies. She also held positions in the PTA and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #7. She valued the many lifelong friendships she made while serving in those organizations.
Nadine especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and supporting them by attending as many of their activities as possible. She always had a fun disposition and a positive attitude, giving unfailing encouragement and love to her family.
Nadine is survived by her four children: Richard L. (Claudia Hancey) Bracken of Logan; Charles F. (Nicole Mandt) Bracken of Annandale, Virginia; Kent E. Bracken (Daniel Diem) of Evanston, Illinois; and Julie (Darwin) Call of Wellsville; one brother-in-law, Vernal Bracken of New Braunfels, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Nadine was preceded in death by her husband Lynn Bracken, parents Charles and Julia Erickson, sister Vernetta (Ernest) Earl, and brothers C. Alden (Hilvia) Erickson and Glen A. (Maurine) Erickson.
Funeral services will be at 11a.m. on Saturday, September 29th at the Allen-Hall Mortuary (34 East Center Street, Logan). Viewings will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 28th at the mortuary and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in the Logan City Cemetery.
Nadine’s family would like to thank the staff at Legacy House and Maple Springs, and Rocky Mountain Hospice, especially Nancy, Dave, and Dr. Vera Carlson, for their loving care.
