It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, great-great grandmother Nancy Mae Curtis Barfuss. Nancy passed away on December 4th peacefully, reunited with her eternal companion, Paul Dennis Barfuss, who preceded her in death in May 2020.
Nancy was born in Rexburg, Idaho, the cherished daughter of Joseph Curtis and Leoma Bernice Nef. She is survived by 5 siblings. She is the first to be reunited with her parents. On December 9, 1961, she married the love of her life, Paul, in the Logan Utah Temple, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in love, faith, and devotion. Together, they raised seven children; Paula, Joseph (Teresa), Sharri (Tracy), Christine, Lanette (Bruce), Dennis (Sharon), and David (Nicole) teaching them the values of hard work, kindness, and unconditional love based and rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Nancy worked tirelessly alongside Paul throughout their lives, creating a home filled with laughter, warmth, and a sense of belonging. She had the unique gift of making each of her children feel as though they were her favorite. Nancy demonstrated everyday that her husband and her kids were her greatest priority and blessing in life. Nancy loved music. She and Paul sang together in The Southern Utah Heritage Choir for several years where they had the opportunity to travel from Utah to Russia and Prague performing beautiful music. Throughout her life, Nancy served faithfully in numerous church callings, always alongside Paul. Together, they managed the St. George Temple apartments for 10 years, a role they cherished as they welcomed and supported missionaries, temple workers and visitors.
Nancy’s legacy is carried on by her 25 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren, who adored her beyond measure. She will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, her compassionate spirit, and the way she brightened every room she entered. She fiercely protected and loved her children with all her heart.
Nancy was truly a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. She is now at peace, reunited with Paul, where we are certain they are singing and laughing together again.
