Logan, UT - NaVee Thornley, 81, returned to his Heavenly Father May 21, 2006 following a hard fought battle with cancer. NaVee was the son of Bert and Ina Olsen Thornley. He lived most of his life in the Cache Valley area and was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Navy on the USS Vent. After his honorable discharge from the Navy he met and married his beloved sweetheart Gloria. They were married on October 13, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He worked many years for Cantwell Lumber building a portable sawmill and working in the lumber industry. NaVee was an electrical contractor and established Thornley Electric where he worked until his retirement with his son Blake. He was known for the quality of his work and his excellent work ethic. Hunting and camping were two of NaVee's favorite pastimes, especially the annual deer hunt that was enjoyed with close friends and his five sons. NaVee knew of many jeep trails in the Logan Canyon area where he spent many weekends with his family. His sons developed a great appreciation for the area on these rides. After his retirement, NaVee had the time to develop a previously unexplored talent when he began crafting original metal sculptures. His creations include a working fountain, a life size deer and cactus, and a totem pole. At the time of his death, he was working on a train large enough to carry a driver and pull a passenger car. NaVee is survived by his sons: Craig (Angie) of Hyrum; Tad (Melanie) of Oregon City, OR; Garth (Deb) of Logan; and Mark (Dolores) of Ft. Collins, CO; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria Pulsipher; son Blake; parents and brothers Kenneth and Dale.
