Nelda Faye McBride James

On September 20th 2024, Nelda Faye McBride James passed away peacefully at her home in Hyrum.

Nelda was born on December 31st 1942 to the Francis and Nellie McBride family and how thrilled was Nellie as her heart had yearned for a daughter. Nelda was welcomed by her brothers, Dean, Don Earl, Jerry and LaVon.

Nelda graduated from South Cache High School. Son after graduation, Nelda married her sweetheart, Blaine James on June 2nd 1961 in the Logan, Utah Temple. Together they raised 3 children, Doug, Patty and Shaynne.

Nelda’s enjoyed many different hobbies but her favorite hobby was bowling. She participated on leagues with her friends and a night bowling league with her husband. Nelda enjoyed deer hunting with Blaine and other family members. 

Nelda also enjoyed other hobbies such as tying quilts, crochet, cross stitch and her latest newfound hobby was diamond painting.

Nelda also enjoyed her Thursdays as this was the day she played cards with her friends

Nelda also helped schedule horse rides for her brother Dean who owned and operated a horse-riding business South of Hardware Ranch.

Sunday was a special day for Nelda, Blaine and their family as they would spend the day as a family fishing up Blacksmith fork canyon.

Nelda’s biggest joy was her grandchildren, Tyson, Zac, Cody, Casey, Courtney, Ariel and great granddaughter McKinley Ty Thornley.

Nelda will be greatly missed but is now at peace.

Nelda is survived by her daughter, Patty Thornley, Son, Shaynne James (Denise)

Grandchildren; Tyson Thornley, Zac Thornley, Cody Thornley, Casey Thornley, Courtney James, Ariel James and her Great granddaughter, McKinley Ty Thornley. Nelda is also survived by her Brothers Jerry and LaVon.

Nelda was preceded in death by her husband, Blaine, Son Doug, Grandson Tyler Troy Thornley and Son in law, Troy Thornley, her parents Francis and Nellie McBride, Brothers Dean and Don Earl (Donnie) and many of her friends.

Services will be Friday October 4th at 12:30 PM at the Hyrum 8th Ward Chapel 600 S. 200 E. Hyrum, Utah.  A viewing will also be held prior to the funeral service from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm at the church.  Nelda will be laid to rest in the Hyrum City Cemetery.
