Nelson Shawn Ashworth

Nelson Shawn Ashworth passed away peacefully on February 5, 2016 at the age of 37 in Hyde Park, Utah surrounded by his loving family. It was his beloved late Grandpa Nolan’s birthday.
Nelson was born on September 16, 1978 in SLC, Utah to Eugene and Karlene Krogue Ashworth. He graduated from Alta High School in 1997. He served a faithful 2 year LDS mission to St. Louis, Missouri from 1998-1999. He graduated with his bachelors of Medical Science degree in 2009 from the U of U. He received his Eagle Scout award as a teen.
He was sealed to his love and best friend Holly McFarland Ashworth in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple on May 8, 2003. Together they have 3 beautiful children: Evy (6), Coleman (4), and Nolan (10 months).
Nelson was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving faithfully in many callings, the latest he shared with his wife. Nelson loved to take his family fishing, camping and to football games. He will always be remembered for his incredible smile and big heart. His love for the outdoors was surpassed only by his love for his family.
Nelson is survived by his wife Holly and children, parents, siblings: Connie (Brett), Cheryl (Peter), Darren (Camille), Crystal (Daniel), his mother and father in law Steven and Elena McFarland as well as many loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Shawn Eugene.
Please follow Nelson’s example of making the world a better place by smiling at every person you pass, telling everyone hello and most of all please teach your kids to love the outdoors!
A viewing will be held Thursday Feb. 11th at the Allen Hall Mortuary at 34 E Center Street in Logan from 6-8pm. The funeral will be held Friday Feb. 12th at noon at the Hyde Park Stake Center at 535 E 200 S in Hyde Park with a viewing prior from 10-11:30am.
In lieu of flowers, please make all donations to the Ashworth Children Fund at any Wells Fargo Bank.
