COVE — Our sweet Grandma Neta, who was determined to make it to 100 years old, surprised us on April 5, 2015 and passed away peacefully at 98 years surrounded by her loving family. Now she is dancing with Grandpa after more than 30 years of being apart.
Neta was the 2nd child born to Roy and Voilet Eskelson on November 7,1916 in Smoot, Wyoming. As a baby she moved to Cove where she spent the remainder of her life. After graduating from North Cache high school, she attended Utah State and Long Beach Junior College. She married Reed Monson Allen on December 23, 1936. They had 9 children.
Grandma Neta touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She welcomed everyone with an open heart and kitchen. She loved to feed people both physically and spiritually. You could usually find her in her kitch- en making something sweet, or sitting and knitting as she listened to the scriptures or conference talks. She had a passion for temple work and made weekly trips to the temple well past the age that anyone would expect her to. We will all remember and miss her yummy bread, her warm hats, scarves, and slippers, and the useful wash clothes that she made.
Grandma Neta also had a love for her Aggies. Very few things could keep Grandma away from her spot in the spectrum at the basketball games. She was there on her 98th birthday and got to light up the Old Main “A” when the Aggies brought home the win for her.
Neta is survived by her children, Jed and Nancy Allen, St. George; Ace and Cheryl Allen Caldwell, ID; Blain and Carol Allen, Lewiston; Carol and Bill Dutro, Cove; Kathy and Dale Mildenberger, North Logan; Tami and Michael Salisbury, Kaysville; and Peni and Larry Knowles, Providence. She is also survived by her sister Marie and Lynn Mower, Layton; sister-in-law Roma Eskelson, Pocatello, Idaho; and a brother Connel and Coleen Eskelson, Cove. She has 32 Grandchildren, 59 Great grandchildren and 12 and counting great-great grandchildren.
She was preceeded in death by her husband Reed, her sons, Varr Allen, and Bob and Judy Allen, and her granddaughter Tracy Allen, her parents, five brothers, and three sisters.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 10 at 1:00 pm in the Richmond Stake Center; 135 West Main Richmond, Utah. Friends may call at the Allen Mortuary of North Logan on Thursday 6– 8 pm, 420 E. 1800 N., North Logan, Utah then at the stake center Friday 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the Service.
