Neva Jean Misener

August 12, 1927 — March 8, 2014

Neva Jean Fuhriman Misener, age 86, passed away Saturday evening, March 8th, 2014 at the Logan Regional Hospital after fighting a courageous and dignified five week battle with ulcerative colitis.  At her passing she was surrounded by either the presence of or prayers of all her family members.
Mom was born on August 12, 1927 in Malad, Idaho to Arnold Jacob and Rachel Partington Fuhriman.  She grew up in Providence, Utah, and was the youngest of six siblings: her brothers, Delbert, Earl, Duke, and Lee and her sister, Ione.  She especially loved her summers spent at the family’s wheat farm in Pocatello Valley.
Her family eventually moved to Logan where she attended Logan High School and, while there, met her forever sweetheart, Reid Dennis Misener.  Fittingly, they were crowned the “Sweethearts of Logan High” at the annual Sweetheart’s Ball.
Mom and dad were married in the Logan LDS Temple on December 28th 1945 before embarking on a brief military assignment in Denver, Colorado and then returning to Logan to raise their family.
Mom was an angel mother who, with dad, raised a beautiful posterity which began with four children: Steven Reid, (Terri Talbot); Kathryn, (Karl Ward); Kent Arnold, (Lorraine Child); and David Lee (Connie Tait)--- and has since grown to 20 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren, (and counting).
Later in life mom worked for the State Employment Office in Logan and then for the USU Personnel Dept. where she made many cherished friendships.
Mom and dad had a very unique and close relationship with a group of dear friends who, for over 60 years are still continuing that same relationship at least twice a month to this day.
Mom was a faithful and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in many callings but most importantly instilling in her children a deep love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  She selflessly supported her husband in his Priesthood callings and joyously served with him as officiators in the Logan Temple.
The most difficult years of mom’s life have been the past 5 ½ as a widow.  But her most joyous moment came at sunset last Saturday evening when she once again embraced her sweetheart, Reid, never to be separated from him again, and ever to be separated from her cane.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 13, at 12:00 noon in the Logan 10th Ward Chapel, 792 North 500 East, Logan, with Bishop Joseph A. Day conducting.
A viewing will be held Wednesday evening at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan, from 6:00 to 8:00pm and again on Thursday at the church prior to services from 10:30 to 11:30am.   Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
