Nicholas (Nick) Blake Anderson of Hyrum, Utah, suffered a ruptured arterial aneurysm in the brain January 9, which ended his mortal life of 37 years, on Thursday, January 10, 2013.
1. Nick was the oldest of six children born to Rian and Jane Anderson of Fairview, Utah. He was born in Logan, Utah, October 28, 1975, during the time his father was attending Utah State University – a devoted true-blue “Aggie” from the very start.
Nick grew up in Fairview, Utah, working alongside his dad on their family sheep ranch where he took on responsibility at an early age and developed a great work ethic. He was active in sports, an Eagle Scout, and Senior class president of North Sanpete High School. He served an LDS mission to the Czech Republic. After his mission, while attending Snow College, Nick found his eternal companion, Katherine Mabey, daughter of Kent and Joyce Mabey of West Jordan, Utah. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 29, 1997. They both graduated from Snow College and completed their education at Utah State University. Nick received a bachelor’s degree in business.
Nick and Katherine and their three children made their home in Hyrum, Utah. Nick was serving as Elders Quorum President and was employed at Utah State University as Facilities Manager, overseeing the care and maintenance of the university’s buildings.
Nick loved sports of all kinds. He ran marathons and Ragnar relay races and was an avid Aggie fan, but his greatest love was his wife and family. His main focus in life was bringing them joy and happiness. He was also very devoted to his parents, grandmother, and brother and sisters, and loved the Mabey family as his own. He was a great friend to everyone and was loved by all who knew him.
Nick is survived by his wife, Katherine; his three children, Thomas Blake (13), Annelise (11), and Christopher Rian (9); his parents, Rian and Jane Anderson; brother James Adrian Anderson (Tracey); sisters, Autumn Kirkham (Jason), Janille Olson (Michael), Natalie Bradley (Stephen) and Tonya Syme (Matthew); and grandmother, Norma Elaine Anderson Wocknitz.
There will be a viewing for family and friends at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan, Utah, on Monday evening, January 14, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at the LDS chapel at 600 South 200 East, Hyrum, Utah on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 12:00 noon, with a viewing prior to the services from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Hyrum City Cemetery.
