Nicholas Marley Kirkwood

September 18, 1995 — April 3, 2016

Our beloved son Nicholas Marley Kirkwood passed away in Littleton, Colorado on April 3rd, 2016. He was born September 18, 1995 in Atlanta, Georgia. Nick was a fun, energetic and beautiful child, who was always curious about how things were put together and how they worked. He loved to build and paint models. His early years were marked by special relationships with his grandmothers Bobbie and Effie.
In 2001, his parents Meridith and Scott relocated to Amsterdam, Holland. Nick attended British schools, met interesting people, and enjoyed the cultural life of Europe for six years. They were able to travel extensively. The Kirkwoods returned to the U.S. in 2006, settling near Denver.
In his teenage years, Nick could often be found with a computer gaming controller in his hand or on his skateboard, and he continued to develop his life-long interest in cars. He attended Cherry Creek High School and was active in the Young Marines. Nick always had a soft spot for animals, especially cats, including Dutch-born Jay and Silent Bob, as well as Leo and Merlin.
Nicholas Kirkwood is survived by his parents, Meridith Sorensen and Scott Kirkwood, and grandparents, Ethel Openshaw, Michael Kirkwood and JoLynn Kirkwood. He is also survived by aunts and uncles Jennifer Sorensen, Kelly Mecham, Michelle Jones, Emily Kirkwood, Sarah Parry, Michael Kirkwood, Joseph Kirkwood; as well as cousins Bob Olsen, Luke Olsen, Rock Mecham, Cade Mecham, Carter Jones, Katie Taylor, Jacque Pickering, and Chris Holdsworth. Preceding him in death were grandparents Roberta “Bobbie” Stearman, John Mark Sorensen, Kenneth W. Brewer and Michael Openshaw.
Funeral services will be held in Logan, Utah at St. John’s Episcopal Church (80 E. 100 N.) at 11:00 am Saturday April 9th. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Services directed by Allen-Hall Mortuary. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net .
