Nolan H. Daines, age 90, died at home in San Carlos, CA surrounded by family on Monday, January 5th. He was born in Hyde Park, UT on March 28, 1924 to Joseph B. Daines & Martha E. Hansen. Nolan was raised in a family of 16 children and is survived by his younger sister Josephine Clark. He was proud of his heritage as a Utah farm boy where he learned the value of hard work. Nolan served in WWII in the 27th tank battalion as a corporal. He graduated from Utah State University in Civil Engineering & went on to work for P.G. & E. for over 30 years. Nolan was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints & served as a bishop, a stake president, and as a counselor in the Oakland Temple presidency. He and his wife also served church missions in Arizona and Hong Kong. Nolan was preceded in death by his wife Janet & his grandson Adam. He is survived by his 7 children, 24 grandchildren & 27 great grandchildren who are all thankful to call him Dad and Grandpa. A memorial service was held Saturday, January 10th at the LDS church in Redwood City. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 2:00pm in the Hyde Park Cemetery.
