LOGAN, UTAH - Norman Earl Hadfield, 90, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2008, after a short time, at the Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of natural causes. Norm was born June 7, 1918, in Grouse Creek, Utah, the son of William and Grace Jorgensen Hadfield. He was the fifth child in a family of ten. He grew up in Grouse Creek, Utah. The family later moved to Logan so he could attend Logan High School.
He faithfully and proudly served his country as a soldier in the U.S. Army in 1941. He served in Europe and Africa in World War II and was a tank commander from 1942-1945. He earned the Bronze Star for bravery and seven other Military Honors.
He married Elaine Mair, October 8, 1945, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had four children: Norman Dee (Diane) Logan, Utah, Scott William (Deceased) (Nancy) Avon, Utah, Chris Mair (Deceased) and Judy Lee Sorenson (Randy) Logan, Utah. They have seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Norm worked for Logan City for many years, retiring as Street Department Superintendent. He did custom tractor work, plowing gardens and snow removal.
He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, horses and he could fix anything. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, stories around the campfire, and his love and devotion for his family and country. He was a High Priest in the Logan 18th Ward. He served as Scout Master and was a great influence and example for many boys for eighteen years.
He is survived by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers; Eldon (Sarah) Hadfield, Salt Lake City, Utah, Max (Marie) Hadfield, River Heights, Utah, Dean (Arla) Hadfield, Preston, Idaho, sister; Vonda (Jack) Whitlock, Logan, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons; brothers and spouses, Gordon and Lorna Hadfield, Ronald and June Hadfield; sisters and spouses, Myrl and Foster Allen, Amy and LaMoyle Petersen, and Nina Bastow.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Monday July 21, 2008 at the Logan LDS 18th Ward Chapel, 502 E 300 N, Logan, with a viewing prior to services from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. A viewing will also be held on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Allen Hall Mortuary, 34 E Center St. Logan, Utah. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
