Norman (Norm) V. Leonhardt 93, passed away Thursday November 26 at his home in Providence, Utah. He was born January 6, 1916 in Providence, Utah.
He was the fifth of 5 children. He married Ivy Lundberg on June 29, 1937. Their marriage was later sealed in the Logan LDS temple. Ivy passed away July 6, 2005. Dad always enjoyed raising a big garden, a few sheep, cows, horses, and a lot of hens and roosters. Dad always enjoyed having a yard full of animals. He enjoyed tending to the orchard of pears and apple trees that he helped his dad plant when he was a young boy. He also enjoyed watching the Jazz and the Colorado Rockies.
Dad worked many jobs in construction and in the lime rock quarries in Providence canyon, from there he worked at the Bureau of Reclamation at Newton Dam and then became Providence cities public works director and city marshal for 26 years until retirement at the age of 70. Dad knew Providence like the back of his hand. If you needed to know anything, whether it be about the water system or cemetery or a lost animal all you had to do is call “Norm.”
A legacy of faith, hard work and compassion will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his four children Doreen (Wendell) Blauer, River Heights, Arlean (Bill) Cravalho, Providence, Ivan (Vona Vee) Leonhardt, Montpelier, Idaho and Judie (Ted) Woolf, Paradise. 14 grand children, 36 great grand children and 9 great great grand children. He is preceded in death by 2 grand children, Mary Eliza Leonhardt and Richy Woolf also by his brothers Ernest, Walter and Oliver and a sister Ida Parker.
