In Loving Memory
Norma Thorley Dent, born January 14, 1915 in Cedar City, Utah, passed peacefully away September 29, 2008. Married to the late Harold Joseph Dent, born September 10, 1916 died December 7, 1975. Surviving children Harold Joseph Dent Jr. (Melanie), Jeanne Smith (Art), David (Kallie), Douglas and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Norma attended the University of Utah where she graduated with a degree from the College of Nursing in May of 1938. She was always active in her Alumni chapter. She had a successful career in nursing as a Private Duty Nurse, Supervisor at both LDS and Cottonwood Hospitals and as Director of Nursing at the Cottonwood Hospital in 1968. She served in many leadership callings in Primary, MIA and Relief Society and loved and was loved by all with whom she served.
Harold and Norma were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 13, 1938. They were blessed with a beautiful family. Their children Jay, Jeanne, David and Doug were her pride and treasure. She was best known for being a loving and adoring Grandmother. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and their accomplishments. She encouraged them to plan and save and prepare for missions and temple marriages and a life-time of service to the Lord. She was an avid gardener and exquisite cook. She was known for her beautiful needle work as well as many other talents. She loved art, poetry, music and her scriptures. She was charitable and kind and a humanitarian to all. She was generous to her neighbors and her many dear friends. She will be missed and remembered.
Graveside service Thursday, October 2, 1 p.m. at Holladay Memorial Park: 4900 S. Memory Lane. Friends may call one hour prior to service at Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary: 4670 Highland Dr.
