Orange Forrest Hoskins

Our wonderful father passed away peacefully in the loving care of his family on January 28th 2009.
He was born on September 12th, 1916 in Hillview, ILL. to Orange F. and Mary Jones Hoskins.
He graduated from Nampa High School in Nampa, Idaho where he was raised before moving to Ogden, Utah.
In 1940 he joined the army and served during World War II in Africa, Italy, Austria, and Germany. He was a Staff Sergeant in charge of a survey crew. He received a Purple Heart and many other medals for bravery and good conduct. He was honorably discharged from the Army on August 20th, 1945.
In November of 1956 he married Gwendolyn Thatcher and together they had 9 children.
After the death of his wife, he later married Bernice Francen Bright Olsen on January 17th, 1986 in the Logan LDS Temple. They shared many wonderful years together.
He worked for the UP Railroad for most of his life and retired as a Brakeman on May29th, 1981. He also worked many side jobs, sometimes as many as three jobs at a time.
He loved dancing, traveling, golfing, reading and spending time with his family who adored him.
He was a selfless man who gave his all and always had a twinkle in his eyes.
He brought joy, love and laughter to his family and to all who knew him. He was a kind spirited and loving man that will be greatly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gwendolyn and second wife, Bernice. Also a son, Roy, twin brother Fred, and three sisters, Dorothy,Margaret, and Ethel.
Surviving are his children, Darlene ( George) Hoganson, Wade ( Louise) Hurd Debra Jewell, Lonnie ( Susan) Hoskins, Holly Crandall, Fred ( Jodie) Hoskins, Todd Hoskins and Troy ( Stacy) Hoskins. Step children Terry ( Maxine) Bright, Sharleen Bright, Gary ( Jan ) Olsen, Mike ( Sherry) Olsen, Herm ( Norma ) Olsen. Also surving are 2 brothers, Jack Hoskins , Joe ( Miriam)
Hoskins, 59 Grandchildren, 51 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
A special thank you to Access Hospice Care and to Annette George ( Todd's girlfriend) for providing his care and comfort.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 31, 2009 in the Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel, 34 East Center Street in Logan. A viewing will be held at the mortuary on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and prior to services on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. Interment will be in the Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park.
