OSCAR MONSON
MILLVILLE, UTAH - Oscar A. Monson, 92, passed away Mar. 21,2010 at his home in Millville.
He was born Mar. 8, 1918 at home in Millville to Niels and Carolina Ekstrom Monson.
He attended school in Millville through the 8th grade. Formal education was then set aside due to the death of his father, which created the need for his full time help on the family farm. Farming soon became his life long occupation and passion.
On Dec. 9, 1942 he married his sweetheart, Leora Hale Monson, in the Logan LDS Temple.
Oscar was always willing to help anyone in need. If anyone needed to borrow a tractor or other equipment, they knew his was available.
He also had a great love for animals. Many peacocks, guinea hens, ducks, rabbits, wild turkeys and numerous cats migrated to Oscar's farm because they knew he would have something for them to eat.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years (deceased Jan. 19, 2010), his parents, four sisters, three brothers, an infant granddaughter, a daughter-in-law and a son-in-law.
He is survived by Carolyn (Lynn) Bott of Dillon, Montana; Vern (Sandy, deceased) Monson of West Valley City, Utah; Denese (Lynn) Nish of Millville, Utah. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and his faithful, furry companion "Snoopy".
The family would like thank all those who helped get Oscar to 92. Special thanks to Dr. Jeffrey M. Huffman and Dr. David G Edwards and their staffs.
Much appreciation is also extended to the many neighbors, relatives and friends who helped Oscar with his farm work and machinery repair throughout the years. Special thanks to Albert Monson and Wade Anderson for making it possible for Oscar to continue farming the last years of his life.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Mar. 27, 2010, at noon in the Millville First Ward Chapel at 110 S. Main in Millville, Utah.
