Patricia Jones

Patricia Jones, 79, passed away Friday, October 14, 2016 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born January 8, 1937 in Brigham City, Utah, to Vern Emile Petersen and Mae Hillstrom Petersen. She grew up in Brigham City and graduated from Box Elder High School. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, currently a member of the Smithfield 17th Ward. She married James Dallas Jones March 18, 1956 in Evanston, Wyoming. They have spent their lives living in Brigham City, Harper Ward, Hyrum, Washington and Smithfield, Utah. She worked at the First Security Bank, Thiokol, and as a legal secretary in Brigham City and Logan. Patty enjoyed oil painting, gardening, reading and raising her family. Together with Dallas they spent many years raising, training and racing horses. They had a lot of good horses and were able to earn many awards with them. Since her retirement she was able to enjoy traveling many places, golfing and four wheeling both here, in Southern Utah and Wyoming.
She is survived by her loving husband, James Dallas Jones and their 3 children: James Michael Jones, Island Park, ID., David Scott Jones (Kim) , Challis, ID., Paula Handley (Frank Broberg) Hyrum, UT. , her best friend and sister Lynda (Rod) Taylor, Brigham City, UT. 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Vern E. Petersen, Mae H. Petersen, Clyde T. Jones (father in-law) and Jean L. Jones (mother in-law).
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 21, 2016 at 12:00pm at the Smithfield 17th Ward Chapel, 345 East 300 South, Smithfield, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 10:30-11:45 at the Church. Interment will be at the Hyrum City Cemetery, Hyrum, Utah.
