Patricia Lynn Smith

October 30, 1955 — July 29, 2016

Patricia Lynn Smith (Patty), most recently of Redmond, Oregon, passed away peacefully, Thursday, July 29th at the Partners in Care Hospice House in Bend, Oregon after a brave fight with cancer.
Patty was born in Durango, Colorado, on October 30, 1955 to Albert Anthony Schmeidler and Marjorie Patricia Schmeidler (Lewis) both of whom preceded her in death. She was raised in Aztec, New Mexico and moved to Salt Lake City after graduating from high school. She married Steven J. Smith in Hyrum, Utah in 1991 and they were later married in the Logan LDS Temple in 1995. She was a talented professional barber/hairstylist and was always in demand for her amazing hair-cutting skills and magnanimous personality. Patty worked at the Utah State University Student Center barber shop in the mid to late 1980s.
Patty traveled around to different parts of the west with her family and loved the opportunity to see and explore new and beautiful places. She lived in Hyrum Utah, Burley, Idaho, Spearfish, South Dakota, Cedar City, Utah, and Boise, Idaho before moving to Redmond, Oregon.
Patty's passion was her family which was the focus of her life. Her most honorable accomplishment was that she was a loving and giving wife, mother and grandmother and these are the things that brought her the most joy in her life. Patty held numerous callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in her life and was loved tremendously by all of those whom she served.
Patty is survived by her husband, Steven Smith and son Steven Tucker Smith (both of Redmond, Oregon), daughters Crystal Parkin (Jimmy) of Angoon, Alaska, Bridget Crane (Luke) of Providence, Utah, Patrice Bales (Rick) of Littlefield, Arizona, and Son Brady Ashworth of Cedar City, Utah. Patty is also survived by seven grandchildren who were the light of her life and brought her great joy. She is also survived by her brothers Dan Schmeilder of Midvale, Utah and David Schmeidler of Aztec, New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant grandson Oliver Crane.
Patty will be remembered for her kindness, love and example of compassion. We will miss Patty tremendously but are comforted to know she is with her Heavenly Father and that her family will see and live with her again.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 9, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street, Logan, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to services from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
