Patsy Lorraine Wells Christensen

September 8, 1938 — September 3, 2023

North Logan, Utah

Patsy Lorraine Wells Christensen, of North Logan, Utah, has rejoined her family in Heaven after a brave battle with Alzheimer’s. Our hearts are heavy with her loss, but we celebrate her life lived meaningfully surrounded by love and laughter.

Patsy was born to James Kershew and Vena Mae Pierce Wells on September 8, 1938, in Victor, Utah. The sixth of eight siblings, Patsy was raised on a ranch and learned well the value of hard work. She graduated from Carbon High School in 1956, winning first place in the county and state for her typing and short-hand abilities—skills she put to work as a legal secretary and for businesses owned with her husband. She married her childhood sweetheart, Gary R. Christensen, in 1957 in the Manti temple, and their dedication and lifelong affection for one another was evident to all who knew them. Patsy’s gifts were innumerable but included her delectable cooking (legendary cinnamon rolls and homemade pizza), her gardening and flower growing, and quilting. Her eye for design extended to her beautiful home and yard, which she perennially decorated and maintained with joy. Patsy had five children who were her constant priority, and she was nurse, therapist, educator, and cheerleader for them without fail. She was a beautiful pianist and organist and shared these talents for many years in church, overcoming her stage fright. Patsy was brave. Though born on a farm in a tiny Utah town, she traveled extensively throughout the US, Asia, and Europe. She was a voracious reader, a lifelong learner, and she instilled these loves in her children. She adored her grandchildren. Family meant everything to her, and she ensured everyone around her knew it. She was hilarious—the glimmer in her eye was a constant source of happiness for all who knew her and will be sorely missed.

Patsy is survived by her children, G. Robert Christensen (Arlene Mecham) of North Logan, Stefanie Jane Christensen Thomson (Shawn Thomson) of North Logan, Lezlie Ann Christensen Branum (Craig Branum) of Layton, and James Lee Christensen of Ogden; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Ralph Christensen; her son, Jon Lynn Christensen; parents, James and Vena Mae Wells; siblings, Dal Wells, Leah Wells, Raymond Wells, Robert Wells, Anne Wells Watt, Lynn Wells, and Verna Wells Lauritsen.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023, at the LDS Stake Center (2750 N 800 E, North Logan) at 12:30 p.m. A viewing for family and friends will be held Friday, September 8, at Allen Mortuary, (420 East 1800 North, North Logan) from 6 to 8 p.m. and from 11:00 am-12:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
