Paul Roberts Montrose

Paul Roberts Montrose, 98, graduated from this life with flying colors.
He was born to John Leslie Montrose and Agnes Alister Roberts, Sept. 16, 1920 in Logan Utah at the old Budge Hospital. He attended Logan High School and the Agricultural College, (now USU), and was in the ROTC program. Paul loved flying. He took lessons at the college while in the ROTC and was accepted into the Army Air Corp only two days after the Bombing of Pearl Harbor. Paul was assigned to the South Pacific, based in Guadalcanal and the Solomon Islands as a Flight Leader flying P-39 fighter planes. Paul flew over 140 missions and received the Distinguished Flying Cross and received the rank of Major.
After his time in the Air Corp he and his dear sweetheart, Elaine Curtis Montrose, came back to Logan to start their family. Paul took over his Father’s appliance business, Montrose Appliances, on Federal Ave. They were the first to sell Maytag Appliances in Cache Valley along with the Ironrite Ironers. Later he sold his business taking a job with IBM in San Jose, California. Paul worked 30 years for IBM where Winchester disk drives were created. He loved his time at IBM and enjoyed all those he worked with.
He was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in numerous leadership positions. Paul had a deep testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel. He especially enjoyed working with the youth in the ward, helping with the Road Shows and plays. Paul was also a member of the Sons of Utah Pioneers serving as their President while also organizing and managing the Sesquicentennial Celebration and Parade for Logan.
He loved the outdoors and working in the yard with his wonderful wife, they always had a welcoming home to come to. He loved helping his two sons in whatever they needed help with and was sure to attend all their activities. In 1986 he and his wife moved back to Logan to retire and be close to their son and grandsons.
Paul is survived by his son, Richard (Rick) Paul Montrose (wife Gloria), 3 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and his Brother George Lorin Montrose (wife Judi Lee). He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Curtis Montrose (2011), son David Curtis Montrose (1989) and grandson Ricky Leyva Montrose (1983).
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 16, 2019 in the Lundstrom Park First Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1260 N 1600 E, Logan, UT. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:00 – 10:30am at the church. Interment will be at the Logan City Cemetery 1000 N 1200 E, with Military Honors.
