Paul Vance Fonnesbeck, of North Logan, born August 4, 1931 in Weston, Idaho to James Martinus and Rosa Zbinden Fonnesbeck, passed away quietly from complications of a recent heart surgery on February 18, 2011.
Paul graduated from Brigham Young University and afterwards married his sweetheart, Yvonne Wickham. He joined the US Navy, and served honorably as a LTJG during the Korean War. After the war he continued his education at Utah State University, receiving a MS and Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition. He worked at Rutgers University and at USU in research and teaching. Later, he purchased his hobby farm north of Smithfield, and used his endless energy farming, and building a home. His family has many memories of working and playing together on the farm. He always enjoyed family get-togethers filled with love and laughter.
Paul was a kind man who enjoyed helping and serving both his family and other’s whom he became acquainted with. He had strength of character and a wonderful sense of humor. He was a member of the LDS church and served actively in his faith. He loved to camp, hike, hunt, fish, and spend time with his children and grandchildren. We have many special memories of our times together. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who will be missed by all. He died as he lived, surrounded by his family, all of whom he loved dearly.
Paul is survived by his wife, Yvonne, his children, Vance Fonnesbeck (Alice), Nancy Smart (Cordell), Blake Fonnesbeck (Tina), and Julie Popa (Sean), 24 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
