Peggy Ann Parker Jensen

November 3, 1933 — May 6, 2017

On Saturday morning, May 6, 2017, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and best friend passed away after complications from a fall she experienced in her home. She was surrounded by her children and spouses that loved, adored and will miss her dearly. Mom was truly the heart of our family. She was our dad’s “Peg” and we are certain that the reunion they had on that morning was joyous as they were reunited for eternity.

Peggy was born on November 3, 1933 to Robert Harold Parker and Gladys Andersen. She was raised in the small town of Joseph, Utah. She was blessed to be part of a loving home where hard work, patience and charity were taught. She enjoyed the friendship and love of 10 siblings; sister Geraldine (Aunt Pete) Aldous, deceased sister Jackie Werts (Jack), deceased brother Robert Hal Parker (Colleen), brother Robert Juel A. Parker (Darlene), sister Patsy Greenwood (Steve), sister Bonnie Evans (Gordon); sister Colleen Sanders (deceased), sister Sally Turpin (deceased); brother George Rex (Sam) Parker (Saundra); and brother C. Gordon Parker (Jolene).

As a child, our mother learned hard-work. Being raised on a farm and in a large family there was always plenty of work to do. Mom often told stories of working in the beet fields for long hours. The Parker girls were known to be very industrious; they could work just as hard as any of the young men in town. Peggy graduated from Sevier High School in the class of 1951. She attended BYU for one year, where she was a Cougarette. She then moved to Salt Lake City where she worked for First Security Bank and the Union Pacific Railroad. It was at this time in Salt Lake, that she caught the attention of a handsome young man, who was a medical student at the University of Utah. His name was Robert L. Jensen. That was the beginning of a beautiful love story. They were married on June 30, 1956 in the Logan LDS Temple.

After several moves across the country supporting our father in medical school and while he served his country in the medical corps, they settled down in Logan, Utah in the early 1960’s where they have lived ever since. It was here, in Logan, Utah, where our father practiced Ophthalmology and our mother kept busy raising their six children: Robert Todd Jensen; Debra Lee Ashcroft (Bruce); Steven LeRoy Jensen (Kelly); Scott Mentor Jensen (Jill); Shawn Kevin Jensen (Jennifer) and John David Jensen (Emily). Along with their six children, they have been blessed with 25 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; which our mother loved and spoiled on every occasion.

However, there was no greater service rendered than the love and companionship she offered to our father for over 50 years. They were inseparable. She was proud of every one of his accomplishments and he was always appreciative of Peg’s love and support.

Our mother was a wonderful woman. She loved gardening, decorating, cooking, the holidays, painting ceramics and visiting at the kitchen table. She did not pursue a lot of her own desires, but spent her years serving her family, friends and anyone who was in need. She was Christ-like in all that she did. She was never in too big of a hurry to offer a listening ear and share her feelings when prompted. She also had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, loved children and spent over 35 years teaching primary. After our father’s death, our mother continued her desire to find a way to serve. She was able to open her home to the LDS missionaries. She hoped by doing this that it would be an expression of Gratitude for all the blessings she enjoyed in this life.

There will be a viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan. The funeral services will be held at Noon on Monday, May 15th at the Cliffside Eastridge Ward building, 1350 Eastridge Drive in Logan. A viewing at that location will precede the funeral from 10:30 to 11:30. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetary.

In lieu of flowers, Peggy would encourage donations to the general missionary fund of the LDS Church or any local charitable organizations. As a family, we express our love to the all those that bless our mother’s life and especially those that cared for her during her last few days from the ambulance crew, first responders and the hospital nurses and doctors.
