Phebe Loraine Spackman Jenkins, 91, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, in Logan, Utah.
Loraine was born Jan. 11, 1923, in Freedom, Wyoming, the third of seven children, to Edward Arthur and Thecla Lindholm Spackman. She grew up on the family farm in Freedom up Jackknife Creek.
She married Wendell Jenkins on Jan. 12, 1943, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. The lived most of their lives in Wyoming on a dairy farm where they raised registered Holsteins and represented the state of Wyoming in the dairy conventions.
Loraine served in many church callings, particularly in the Primary, and Relief Society. She served for over 19 years in the Scouting program and received the Silver Beaver Award. She was also active in the community with the 4-H for 20 years, and was on the PTA board and took the agriculture census.
Loraine loved flowers; in the summers she always had a flower garden. She made many beautiful arrangements for her home and helped to decorate for many wedding receptions. She loved crafts, sewing and baking. She patiently taught these skills to her children. Her family and her membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were the two most important things in her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Wendell; one son-in-law, Sam King; one great-grandson, Logan Koyle; four sisters, Nellie, Helen, Dorothy, and Dorinda; one brother, Lester; and her parents.
She is survived by her children, Tanna (Cowen) Baxter of Woods Cross, Utah, Pamela (Val) Morris of West Valley City, Utah, Colin (Alanilee) Jenkins of Clancy, Montana, Kevin (Rea) Jenkins of Millville, Utah, Dorinda (Louis) Lucero of Wellsville, Utah, Troy Jenkins of Concord, California; 17 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Rex Spackman, of Sugar City, Idaho.
The family would like to thank Dr. Huffman for all his kind care of Mom over the past years.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 20 at the Millville LDS church, 360 E. 450 North in Millville, Utah (the church up on the hill). A viewing will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
Interment will be at the Freedom, Wyoming, cemetery.
