Philip Smith Mallery

Philip Smith Mallery, 87, passed away on Thursday May 14, 2009 at the McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah. He was born April 17, 1922 in Crowfoot, Oregon the son of Stanley S. and Vivian Smith Mallery. He spent the years of his youth growing up in Leaburg, Oregon graduating from Springfield Union High School May 1939. He attended Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Illinois for three years.

In 1942 he answered the call from his country, joining the Marine Corps Third Division where he served three years in the Pacific. Here he was a Tech Tank Sergeant in communications.

He married Julia D. Hoffee January 1943. To this union were born: James Philip, Marjorie, Kathleen and Suzanne. Julia passed away January 2008.

Phil served in management for Tektronix Corporation Portland, Oregon for 30 years.

Resuming friendship of High School years with Marvena Holmes Marshall of Logan, Utah, they were married August 23, 2008.

He is survived by his wife of Logan, Utah son, James Philip and Lisa Mallery (Anchorage, Alaska) and daughters Marjorie and Roger Davis (Portland, Oregon), Kathleen and Chris Kelly (San Diego, California) and Suzanne and John Single (Portland, Oregon). 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Stanley S. Mallery of Portland, Oregon.

A viewing will be held at Allen-Hall Mortuary Logan, Utah on Monday, May 18, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. Further services will be held in Portland, Oregon with interment in Williamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
