Phillip Maurice McLeod passed away November 16, 2010, at his home in Logan, Utah.
Phill was born May 30, 1941, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to William Jules McLeod and Chloe Amanda Marsden. He was the oldest of three. His sister ChloeAnn (and husband Mike Peacock) live in Calgary and his brother Don (and wife Judy) live in Las Vegas, NV.
Phill grew up in Calgary and graduated from Western Canada High School. After graduation he served 2 1/2 years in the French East Mission for the LDS Church. After returning in 1964 he met his wife-to-be Karen Dewes. She was not going to let a catch this good get away, and they were married September 11, 1965, and sealed for time and all eternity. Phill graduated from Ricks College in Rexburg, ID, and then BYU in Provo.
They added seven children to their union in nine years: Tracie (Matt Sumsion), Bountiful; Phill (Heather; daughters Tara and Brooke), Hernando, FL; Angie (Luke Frazier; Sidney, Katelyn, Hunter, Porter), Nibley; Brady (Janelle; Ashlynn, Ethan, Kendall, Josh); Roseville, CA; Brandy (Jerry Weeks; Rylee, Spencer, Ellie), Providence; Alicia (Erik Mueller; Skyler, Kaden, Karissa, Brynlee), Syracuse; and Jayson (Debrah; Braiden, Kennedy), Farmington. Phill was a fantastic father, grandfather of 19, and husband. His children, grandchildren, and wife all love him dearly.
Phill served in the Church in many callings. He was activities chairman for many years and will go down in the annals of the Logan Foothill 1st Ward as a fantastic cook for almost all ward parties. He taught for many years in the Primary, then was asked to be the "Old Men's Group Leader" (High Priests), a job he really loved. His favorite calling was serving for over five years in the bishopric of the USU 43rd Student Ward under Bishops Gordon Wood and Lee Badger. It was a calling he never wanted to be released from.
Phill worked for 26 years as a pipe fitter for ATK (Thiokol) and retired in March, 2009. He was presented with a National Master Pipe Fitter Certificate after his retirement. One week after he retired, Phill was diagnosed with incurable brain cancer.
Phill was very talented in making his home beautiful. He fully remodeled his home and continued doing projects for his house and others even after his surgery and radiation treatments. Everyone who knew Phill truly loved him and felt blessed to be a part of his life.
