Rachel Jane Hancey Olsen (1915-2012)

Rachel died peacefully on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 after a short illness. She was born on February 2, 1915 in Hyde Park, Utah, the daughter of Alma John (Pat) Hancey and Ellen Thurston Hancey. She married Don W. Olsen on January 10, 1934. He died on February 22, 1966.
She is survived by her children, Don E. “Ed” (Sandra) Olsen, Sherrill O. (Ronald) Grove, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, seven siblings and one great-grandchild.
Renowned for her beautiful flowers and willingness to share “Starts” with everyone, Rachel was said to be able to make a broom handle blossom. Rachel loved almost all animals, raccoons being an exception, and virtually everyone she met. She was an exceptionally hard worker all of her life.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 8, 2012 in the College-Young Ward Chapel, 2394 West 2200 South. A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan, and prior to services on Thursday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
