RaNee Ballard Parker passed away peacefully from causes incident to old age on October 12, 2024, just four days after her 96th birthday.
RaNee was born on October 8, 1928 in Logan, UT to Robert LeRoy and Agatha Toombs Ballard. She spent her childhood on the family farm in Benson and was educated in the Logan City schools. She was a hard worker and excelled at everything she did, qualities that lasted her whole life.
After high school, RaNee got a job at the County Courthouse as a typist, where she met George, who was the court reporter. They literally “courted” every day. They were married November 25, 1947, and enjoyed 71 years of marriage until George passed away in 2019. During their life together they were active in many social groups, some of which RaNee was instrumental in organizing, and made lifetime friendships.
RaNee was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in countless leadership positions during her life. She served whenever and wherever she was asked, and more. Over the years many people were the grateful recipients of her delicious home-cooked meals and baked goods, and she was always available, despite her busy schedule, to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She and George served in the temple for nine years. She truly lived a life of service to others.
RaNee had many talents, and she used those talents to serve others. It seemed her hands were never still, and if she was sitting, she was usually crocheting hats to send to people in need. She dipped chocolates and her family and neighbors were the lucky recipients of these during the holidays. She was a talented and prolific quilter and her children and grandchildren have all been blessed to receive her beautiful quilts. One year alone she pieced and quilted 19 queen-sized quilts, one for each of her grandchildren. In 2010, she was asked to be in charge of a service project to send quilts to people in need, and over the course of one summer, she personally pieced over 30 quilts.
RaNee was preceded in death by her husband, George Albert Parker, and her daughter, Lori Parker Lawrence. She is survived by her children, Susan (Brad) Beutler, Sandy, UT; Nancy (George) Winder, S. Jordan, UT; Bruce (Janet) Parker, Logan, UT and Brian (Susan) Parker, N. Logan, UT, 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E Center Street in Logan on Friday, October 25, from noon to 1:30 pm, followed by a graveside service at the Logan City Cemetery.
