Obituary for Ranee Kerr McBride
Ranee McBride was joyfully greeted by her loved one on the other side early Friday morning April 15. She will be greatly missed by those she left behind. Ranee was born Oct. 15, 1927, in Wellsville, Utah, to Hazel Smith and John Leishman Kerr. She and her siblings, Lewis (Esther)Kerr, Marian(Leonard)Casterline, Bertha(Bob) Price, Rhea(John) Olsen, John(Carol) Kerr were raised on the Kerr farm on the beautiful west hillside of Wellsville. She and her siblings learned the value of hard work at an early age; but there were fun times, too, growing up on the farm. In the winter they would often ski to the Floradell Elementary school in town. Many of her first grade friends are friends still.
Ranee attended Wellsville Junior High and then South Cache High School. She married Doyle Cooper McBride on Nov. 15, 1942 and they were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they raised their family of five children, Dennis (Linda), Ron (Mary), Dian (Don) Olsen, Craig (Karen), and Kent (Debi). They have 21 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Ranee and Doyle owned a farm in Mt. Sterling where they raised beef cattle and had a dairy farm. With the help of the kids they milked cows and grew and harvested wheat and hay. Ranee was employed for a number of years at Brigham Apparel and then at the Defense Depot in Ogden from where she retired. In the years that followed she continued to work hard helping Doyle on the farm and then caring for him for several years before his death.
Ranee is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and enjoyed her various callings and many associations. She also enjoyed her participation in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
Some of Ranee’s favorite things included, visits from her children, grandchildren and friends, family gatherings in the backyard, talks with her siblings, the company of her favorite cat and dog, and evening walks. She held her family together and kept them up to date on what was happening. Her motto was, “Work hard and enjoy a good laugh along the way.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Craig, grandson Torry, brother, Lewis and sisters, Marian Casterline and Rhea Olsen.
A special thanks to her nurse and granddaughter Mandi, Access Home Care, Buffy and the staff for their professional care.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at noon in the Mt. Sterling LDS Chapel. There will be a viewing Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary and at the church on Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Wellsville Cemetery.
