WELLSVILLE, UTAH: Raymond B. Darley, 98, passed away
Saturday, January 27,2007, at Sunshine Terrace, from
complications of a broken hip.
He was born August 26, 1908, to Thomas Thirkell Darley
and Selena Bailey in Wellsville, Utah. He attended
schools in Wellsville and Hyrum, Utah, leaving high
school to assist his father in running the family
farm.
He married Margaret Bowen (deceased) in the Logan LDS
Temple April 15, 1936. They lived in Wellsville,
caring for his father, Thomas, until his death and
both worked on the farm. Raymond also worked at
Thiokol and at the Ogden Defense Depot during the war
in VietNam.
In 1947-1949, he served an LDS mission in California
and Arizona and in 1983-84 he and his wife served in
the Albuquerque LDS mission. He has held many church
positions, including ward clerk, teacher and Seventies
president. He was a member of the Wellsville 1 st Ward
choir for over 30 years and served as a home teacher
from his teens to his mid-eighties. After retirement,
he served in the Logan Temple over twenty-five years.
He served on the Wellsville City Council, assigned to
maintenance of the city cemetery and was in charge of
the Founder's Day Parade for four years.
He loved spending time with his family and was always
thrilled to hear of a new addition that he could look
forward to holding on his lap.
Raymond is survived by his children, NorRene (Merrill)
Green, Paul (Marilyn) Darley, and Nancy (Richard)
Yonk, 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 42
great-greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by
his parents, his wife of 61 years, six brothers, five
sisters and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 PM, Thursday
February 1, 2007 in the Wellsville 8th Ward Chapel,
195 S Center with Glade Smith of the 8th Ward
Bishopric conducting. Friends may call from 6 to 8
p.m. Wednesday at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 S Center, Logan and from 10 to 11 :30 at the Wellsville
8th Ward Chapel. Internment will be in the Wellsville
