HYRUM, UTAH: Our dear sweet husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Raymond LaMar Jacobsen, 79, passed from this life at home on Thursday February 14, 2008 from an extended illness surrounded by his family.

LaMar was born on November 18, 1928 in Logan a son of Raymond and Ireta Smith Jacobsen. He married his sweetheart and eternal companion LaRene Reder on June 13, 1949. Together they had eight children.

LaMar was active in the LDS Church all his life and served in many callings. He was very active in the Boy Scouts of America and received the District Award of Merit.

He was born and raised in Logan, where he attended schools. He served several years in the US Marine Corp. He worked at Hill Air Force Base for 34 years where he retired in 1984. He also worked for the LDS Church for 10 years until he retired. He was a member of the Lions Club where he did a great amount of service. He loved gardening and yard work. His greatest joy came from his family and the fun things they did together like camping, hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling and picnics. He was a carpenter and built two of his own homes and helped his sons on theirs. He was a handyman and he loved giving service. He helped many people with building, remodeling and repairs.

He leaves behind his wife of almost 59 years, LeRene Jacobsen, children, Roger and Lana Jacobsen, Layton; Sharon and Kim Williamson, Tremonton; Nancy and Gary Larsen, Wellsville; Steven and Anita Jacobsen, River Heights; Terri and Tim Green, Nashville, TN; Gary and Julie Jacobsen, West Jordan; Valerie and Tom Workman, Layton; Randy and Maleesa Jacobsen, College Ward; 30 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren; brothers, Donald Jacobsen, Bountiful; Kay and Lynda Jacobsen, Federal Way, WA; a sister, Martha Hurd, Logan; a sister-in-law, Bette Ball, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Chris and Keith, daughter-in-law, Janice Jacobsen, a granddaughter, Marci Jacobsen, great granddaughter, Rylee Ann Loghurst, a sister-in-law, Janet Jacobsen.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 12:00 pm in the Hyrum 13th Ward chapel, 95 North 400 West. There will be a viewing Monday evening from 6-8 pm at the Allen-Hall Mortuary and at the church Tuesday from 10:30 - 11:30 AM. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. We would like to thank all the nurses and aides at the Logan Regional Hospital and Access Hospice, and we would also like to thank our spouses and our children for allowing us this wonderful week with our father.
