Rayola Jensen

May 30, 1929 — January 31, 2024

Rayola Jensen beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away Wednesday January 31, 2024 at the age of 94.

Rayola was born May 30, 1929 in Arimo, Idaho to Henery Lucene and Erma Katherine Jenkins. She graduated from Arimo High school at the age of 17. She told the family she skipped fourth grade because she was so smart. She grew up on the family farm. This is where she learned the meaning of hard work. She told stories of herding cows, milking cows, and cleaning up after cows. She always said that she hated cows. There were also chickens and hogs to feed and care for. At harvest time she would drive the grain truck from the field to the granary.

Rayola married Carl E. Jensen on December 10, 1946. They had five children, two of whom preceded her in death. LuAnn (January 21, 1950 - January 10, 1952) and Joy Lynn Kearl Hunt (September 1, 1955 - October 15, 2019).

Rayola was a wonderful wife and loving mother. She was a great cook. She enjoyed many years cooking at the High Rise dorms at USU, where the food manager always wanted her to make the gravy. She loved to pick chokecherries and then make jelly which went with her delicious fresh homemade bread. Rayola was a second mother to many of the neighborhood kids, feeding them and keeping them safe and happy before and after school. She always made friends throughout her life. Meeting her in a store and standing and chatting with her were always a delight. She was a farm girl at heart. She loved to be outside with a hoe or shovel in her hand, working in her garden and doing yard work. She loved rocks. Every trip or outing would result in a new find. A certain shape or color would start the hunt. Small ones went into her pocket, larger ones into the trunk of the car. These finds would turn into mini rock gardens all over her yard. She could remember where each one came from, but she never named them, as far as we know.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter. Carl Ray and wife Annette, Chuck and wife Kristi and Jacque and husband John Crossman. She has six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Rayola was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl, son-in-law Rex Jenson, Daughter-in-law Jeannie Larsen Jensen, brother Blaine Jenkins and sister Corrine Snooks.

A viewing will be held February 8, 2024 from 10:00 am to noon at the Allen Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan Utah. Then a graveside service will be held at the Arimo Cemetery, Arimo, Idaho at 1:30 p.m. Memories and condolences may be shared and expressed at www.allenmortuaries.com
