Reed George Crockett, 80, died Saturday, July 30, 2016, at his home in River Heights, Utah, surrounded by his family. He was born October 24, 1935, in Preston, Idaho, to Frank Lee and Alta Webb Crockett. He met and fell in love with Joyce Alston in Pocatello, Idaho, where they were married March 30, 1955.
Reed joined the Navy which took them to San Diego where their first child, Shelly, was born. He was transferred to Hawaii where their second child, Frandee, was born. While there, they were sealed in the Hawaii LDS temple. After being discharged from the Navy they returned to Pocatello where their third child, Alan, was born. Reed received his degree in electrical engineering from Utah State University. They moved to Livermore, California, where Reed worked for Sandia for four years. Their fourth child, Craig, was born while there.
They moved to River Heights in 1967. Reed was a founding partner of Wescor, Inc., where he was well respected and loved. Reed enjoyed serving in various callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He particularly loved the years he spent serving in the scouting program. He, also, served full-time with Joyce in the Family and Church History Mission in Salt Lake City, Utah. They served doing ordinance data management in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Reed enjoyed gardening and working with Joyce in their yard. Reed loved spending time with his family. Many happy memories were made in their home and on fun family trips with his children and grandchildren with his sweetheart, Joyce, by his side. Thank you dad for all the good memories you have given us.
We would like to thank all the nurses, CNA’s and others in the Logan Regional Hospital Infusion Center and all that assisted Reed with such tender care. Their sweet love and service strengthened us through these past months.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Alston Crockett, Shelly (Alan) Holt, Frandee (David) Felton, Alan (Suzie) Crockett, Craig (Linda) Crockett, 16 grandchildren, and 36 great grandchildren. We will remember his Christ-like life and try to follow his example.
