Reed A. Christensen

October 4, 1926 — May 14, 2010

Logan, Utah: Reed Anderson Christensen left this earth Friday morning May 14, 2010 to be with his true love and wife, Betty Joy, after several years of declining health.
Reed was born in Preston, Idaho to parents Fredrick Wilford Christensen & Florence E. Anderson. Reed was raised & went to school in Cache Valley. He served his country during World War II in the Merchant Marine Severed & US Army 11th Airborne.
He married his sweet heart Betty Joy Von Neiderhauser on April 6, 1947. Raising two Sons Reed Kim Christensen & Randy Ross Christensen.
Reed moved his family to Carmichael, California in the late 1950’s, working at Mc Clellen AFB & later to Morro Bay, California which made it more convenient to pursue his hobby of sailing, Reed loved the ocean. In 1969 he skippered in 40 – Foot sloop to Honolulu in the Trans Pacific Yacht Race starting from Long Beach California.
Reed was a member of the LDS Church and was a High Priest in the Logan 5th Ward.
He is survived by a sister Elva C. Knowles, a brother Duane D. Christensen, sons Kim and Cindy Christensen and Randy Christensen, nine grandchildren & six great-grandchildren. Grandpa will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, May 20, 2010 in the Logan 5th Ward Chapel, 502 East 300 North in Logan. A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Allen-Hall Mortuary and prior to services on Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the church. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
