Reed C. Jensen

HYRUM, UTAH - Reed C. Jensen, 81, passed away unexpectedly while vacationing in Fiji on August 25, 2008. He was born Feb 21, 1927 in Hyrum, Utah to Warren Martin and Helen Crookston Jensen. He graduated from South Cache High School in 1945. Reed served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands. He married Patricia Wright on June 8, 1951 in the Logan LDS Temple. He attended Utah State University and was an avid Aggie sports fan. He was trained by the IBM company on one of their first computer systems and worked with computers at the Defense Depot in Ogden for 36 years.

Reed was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in many ward and stake positions, most recently serving as the stake extraction coordinator and with his wife directing the Hyrum 11th Ward humanitarian efforts. He & Pat served two LDS missions together, one at the Family History Center in Logan and one in Nashville, Tennessee.

Reed offered service to his community as a member of the American Legion and the Hyrum Lions Club. He was an Eagle Scout and served many years in scouting, where he loved participating with the boys in their outdoor activities and camping adventures.

He loved the mountains and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He looked forward to family vacations, especially the annual trip to Yellowstone. Even into his 80’s he spent time with his family skiing at Beaver Mountain, backpacking in the Wind River Mountains, and fishing in the Uinta’s.

Reed is survived by his wife, Pat and their four children, Cathy (Reed) Robinson, Orem, David (Jan), Farmington, Sue (Mike) Thompson, Smithfield, and Kurt (Lisa), South Jordan, 20 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Luana Mortensen, and Zada (Claine) Clawson.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hyrum Stake Center, 595 South 200 East, Hyrum, Utah. Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center St in Logan and from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, Thursday, prior to the services. Interment will be at the Hyrum City Cemetary. Condolences and thoughts may be extended to the family online at www.allenmortuaries.net .
