Together Again-

Rhea Vernessa Sundquist Thomas, 90. passed away July 31, 2016 of natural causes in Logan, Utah. Rhea was born July 28, 1926 in Orem, Utah to Lloyd Walter and Vernessa Edna DeGraw Sundquist. Rhea’s mother passed away when she was 8, leaving 6 young children. Much of her youth was spent in care taking. She attended Timpanogos Elementary school and graduated from Lincoln High school, where she was active in Girls Glee club and in choir.
After high school, Rhea worked for Walgreens and the Bakery in Provo. Always active in the LDS church, Rhea served a mission in 1948 to the Eastern States. She returned to the bakery after her mission and became a skilled cake decorator. She attended BYU, focusing on Library Science. She married James Philip Thomas September 8, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Rhea and James moved scores of times and traveled half way around the world together. In 1994, they purchased a home in Hyrum, Utah to be closer to family.
Rhea was an outstanding example of a supportive wife and dedicated mother. She was a librarian and Jim and English teacher and their shared passion was books. She was a cook extraordinaire, a seamstress unafraid to tackle anything, her gardens were a work of art and produce she canned won ribbons repeatedly at fairs. She loved little children-her favorite calling was in Primary molding and testifying to the youth.. She was a soprano and sang with the Mellodaires in Idaho for years. She and Jim served a stake mission on Guam from 1968-1972. Their love and devotion to the gospel were the trademarks of their lives. Her door was always open and all who entered felt the love, peace and inviting influence found there in.
Her sweetheart preceded her in their eternal quest in 2013. Rhea is survived by Shaunaleen (Jeff Crapo), Tamara (Brad) Hamblin, James Sundquist Thomas, Chrisanne Wade and Jon Sundquist(LonaMae) Thomas), eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Sisters Emma (Jack) Brown, Christina Majers, twin brothers Floyd (Nyla) Sundquist, Lloyd (Barbara) Sundquist
The family wishes to thank Dr. Nash and his staff, the IHC Wound clinic, Sunshine Terrace, Pam and Jill and a host of caring CNA’s and nursing staff at the Terrace.
