Rhea Alexander Lott, 85, a much loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend passed away Thursday, October 6,2005.
She was born August 8, 1920 in Payson, Utah, the third of seven children of Murphy David Alexander and Ruth Mary Evans. Shortly after graduation from Spanish Fork High School in 1938, she traveled to Grass Valley, California to attend to her Aunt Anne Merrill, who had just given birth to her 5th child. While living in Grass Valley, where she lived for 55 years, she met and married William Hugh Medlyn. They were blessed with three sons: Douglas Roy (Naneen) of Portland, Oregon; Brent Alexander (Donna) of Arlington, Texas; and David Arthur (Paula) Medlyn of Logan, Utah. They were later divorced. Rhea met and married Stuart Connelly Lott, Sr., in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on August 8, 1961. He had one son, Stuart Lott, Jr. (Vanna) of Folsom, California. Rhea and Stu had many great adventures traveling and visiting many countries in the world. Rhea was a wonderful cook, a talented seamstress, and she had been very active in the Nevada County California Historical Society. She loved learning, reading and movies with happy endings. She spent time sharing her talents during her life and recently crocheted service projects for the Humanitarian Services of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Rhea served in many positions in the Grass Valley Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as Relief Society President, in the Primary and Young Women, as the Ward Organist and Choir Director. She served for 17 years as one of the first early morning seminary teachers in California. Through precept and example she literally influenced the spiritual lives of hundreds of our Father in Heaven's choicest children. In 1994 she moved to Logan, Utah, to be by family where she again made many new friends. She is survived by her sons, 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, her sisters Nancy Lassen of Spanish Fork, Utah; Elaine Kemp of Ogden, Utah; Jean Arenius of Nevada City, California, and Joyce Johnson of Spanish Fork, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart Connelly Lott, Sr., an infant brother, Paul, and sister, Phyllis Creer. She was always a teacher and a faithful member of the church. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and everyone who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 10, at the Foothill 1st Ward Chapel, 1450 East 1500 North, Logan. A viewing will be held prior to services at 10:00 AM at the ward building. Condolences may be sent to the family by going to
