Richard Corbidge Mcarthur

July 8, 1938 — June 15, 2018

Richard Corbridge McArthur, 79, of North Logan, passed away on June 15, 2018 surrounded by family at his home.

He was born on July 8, 1938 to Steven Lester and Lulu Corbridge McArthur in Logan, Utah. He grew up alongside his brother, sisters and his parents in Amalga on the family farm where he learned the value of hard work and how to love thy neighbor.

Richard graduated from North Cache High School. After high school he enlisted in the Army and served honorably in Korea. He had a great love for his country and found ways to serve throughout his life.

While on medical leave in Davis, CA he met the love of his life, Norma Schafer. They were married on March 12, 1959 in Amalga and would spend the next 59 years together. They have two children, Cheryl and Ricky, who feel blessed to have been raised by such wonderful and loving parents.

Richard was a friend to all, and all who knew him were lifted by his infectious laugh, joyful humor and genuine heart. He lived to serve others and loved his friends and family immensely. He asked little from others, yet was always the first to offer a helping hand. He spent most of his life driving trucks for Cache Valley Dairy and would not be seen driving anything, but a Ford.

His greatest joy came from being a grandparent/great-grandparent and all of his grandchildren profoundly love their grandpa. You could always count on grandpa to be up in the stands rooting for you and there was no better place to be on sick days, than with grandpa. He checked all of the boxes on being the world’s best grandpa. His character, kindness and legacy will live on through his posterity.

Richard fought for those “5 more minutes” in every aspect of his life, including the last few months of his life where time after time his optimism and perseverance gave him the strength to press on.

Richard is survived by his wife, Norma McArthur, daughter Cheryl (Troy) Carver; son, Ricky (Tamra) McArthur; Sisters: Ruth (Charles) Johnson, Laura (Les) Balls. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 22 great-children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Steven and Lulu, brother, David, and sister, Mary Ann McArthur.

The family would like to thank the LDS Hospital ICU nurses, physical and respiratory therapists, along with Encompass/hospice for the love and support that they provided Richard.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 19th, 2018, at the North Logan Memorial Park beginning at noon. Condolences can be expressed online at www.allenmortuaries.net
