Lt Colonel Richard C. Sharp
Saturday, May 19, 2012, Lt. Colonel Richard C. Sharp succumbed to sudden heart failure while dining with family.
Lt. Colonel Richard C. Sharp was born in Visalia, CA on July 9,1924 to Victor R. Sharp and Virginia Messick Sharp. He attended Visalia High School and graduated in 1942.
Richard served in the Navy during World War II with combat in the Philippines and Okinawa. He later served in the Korean War as an officer in the Air Force. Col. Sharp was awarded the Bronze Star. After WWII, Col. Sharp learned to fly and flew private aircraft for 45 years. He earned his commercial pilots license in 1972.
His military service totaled 30 years retiring in 1974. During his years in the military he graduated from the University of Omaha, in General Education closely followed by a Bachelor in Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington. He concluded his education with a Masters in Business Administration from U.S.C.
After his military service he went to work as the Assistant Assessor of Trinity County in Northern California. He removed to Redding, CA where he opened his own reality company, Sharp Reality. Finally, he moved to Logan, Utah living in Cache Valley at the base of the Wasatch Mountains.
Richard is survived by his wife Nellie Ruth Huneke Sharp, daughter of Paul Huneke and Mabel Hambright Huneke both of Lemon Cove, CA and his five children: Richard M. Sharp of Long Beach, CA, Paula J. Salvarakis of Simi Valley, CA, Julie A. Anderson of Logan, UT, Pamela L. Crawford of Olean, NY, Susan M. Sharp-Ward of Oakridge, TN; he is also survived by his12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
