Richard Arthur Chambers

April 7, 1917 — March 25, 2011

Richard Arthur Chambers of Logan, Utah, died suddenly on March 25, 2011. He was 93.
Dick, as he was known to family and friends, was born April 7, 1917 in Salt Lake City, to Arthur Edwin and Elaine Burt Chambers. His early life was spent on the family ranch in Burley, Idaho. On January 4, 1939, he married Marie Budge in the Logan LDS Temple.
Dick served in the U.S. Navy in World War II in the South Pacific as a gunnery officer. After the war he had numerous business interests, including restaurants, private clubs, insurance and real estate brokerage and farming and ranching.
He was active in local politics, serving as Logan City Commissioner and Mayor and on over 150 committees at the local, state and national level. He also served in Rotary, Kiwanis, the Logan Elks Club and the Jr. Chamber of Commerce among others. He loved to ski and continued to ski into his 80's
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Moroni Manning, and two brothers, Howard and Renold (a twin).
He is survived by his wife, Marie; son, Steven (Nancy), grandsons, Steven, Jr. (Cathy); Brad (Melanie) and Jeff (Holli); and granddaughters, Courtney (Robert); Melinda ; and Leah (Brad); two sisters, Gladys Wach (John, deceased), Salt Lake City and LouAnn Stout (Jay), Encinitas, California.
Family and friends will hold a graveside service at 12 noon on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the Logan City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Dick requested donations to you favorite charity.
