Robbie Lou Raymond

August 4, 1932 — October 7, 2024

American Fork, Utah

Robbie Lou Baize Raymond passed away peacefully on October 7, 2024. She was born on August 8, 1932, in Waco, Texas and was the youngest of ten who have all previously passed. Robbie was the last one in her family. She is survived by her five children; Martha Barnes of Golconda, NV; Stephen C. Raymond of Thermopolis, WY; A. Scott Raymond of Logan, UT; Paul G. Raymond of Mapleton,

UT; John B. Raymond of Nampa, ID; she was preceded in death by her daughter Ruth Ann Clark (Dennis) of North Logan, UT. She has twenty grandchildren and 36 Great Grandchildren.

Robbie was born and grew up in Texas during the depression and knew tough times. She was especially fond of all her siblings from Texas and would tell remarkable stories about all of them throughout her life. She loved all her family! Just before high school, her mother got remarried and they moved to Oxnard, California. She was a cheerleader in high school and loved music. It was after she graduated from Oxnard High School, that she met a missionary from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints name Jack C. Raymond. After his mission, they fell in love, and they were married shortly after in Logan, UT., at the Logan Temple.

After getting married, Jack completed his education at Utah State University and accepted a job teaching seminary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This took the family to many locations in California and eventually to Powell, WY where Jack was teaching Institute and coordinating the early morning seminary program in Northern Wyoming. By this time, the family had grown to six children. But on April 24, 1973, Jack went fishing with a friend at Buffalo Bill Reservoir and a terrible storm came up and capsized their small boat causing both men to lose their lives in that tragic event. Robbie lost the love of her life and left her alone with their six children.

After this event, they moved back to Logan, UT to be closer to her father-in-law. She remained in Logan until 1978 when she got remarried to James Aston who lived in Blanding, UT. With most the children out of high school and on their own, she took the two youngest, Paul and John, and moved down to Blanding, Utah. After living in Southern Utah for several years, they moved up to SLC. Robbie had worked for the State of Utah in Blanding and then worked for UDOT for many years after moving back up to SLC. She loved working for UDOT and retired from UDOT in 1995.

She then moved back up to Cache Valley where she resided until she moved to Mapleton in 2021.

Robbie was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and always magnified her callings. She loved to play the piano and played very well right up to the time of her death. Robbie loved to paint and do crafts. She was always knitting, quilting, or making something for someone else. She loved music, playing the piano, and being surrounded by her family. We will all miss her!!
