Surrounded by his family, Bob Benson, 85, returned to his loving Heavenly Father on August 28, 2022. He was born to Luther and Leona Benson on June 23, 1937, in Logan, Utah, and has one older sister, Emma Jean. Bob married JoAnn Worley on February 26, 1960, in Logan, Utah, and together they raised three children. Bob owned Worley Plumbing & Heating and was an excellent plumber with a reputation for quality; his neat, precise work can still be found in many homes and apartments in Cache Valley.
Bob loved the mountains. He and his sister spent many happy hours in the mountains logging with their parents and extended family. He loved being in the canyon and being with his family. He said it was his favorite place to be. He also loved nature, flowers, and gardening. He could grow anything and created a beautiful oasis in his backyard every summer.
Bob had an amazing creative ability. He was always coming up with unique ideas on how to make things better. He loved building things and could make the most amazing things out of just scraps. He loved working with wood and was a great carpenter. Over the years he built many things; rocking horses for his grandchildren, large beautiful semi-trucks where he carved each piece individually by hand, clocks, lamps, miniature houses, and a wonderful toy stable for his two little grandsons one Christmas, among other things. He and his dad also built a pontoon boat, and together they spent many happy hours fishing. He could fix anything and find a way to make it work, no matter what it was. He was always coming up with different, inventive ideas and was very talented.
Bob was the kindest, most gentle person. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and was always thinking of ways to make things better and easier for others. We were blessed to have him in our lives and will miss him very much. We look forward to the day when we can all be together again.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, JoAnn; children Cathy Benson, Robert Todd Benson (Logan), and Carla (John) Hanks (Broaddus, Texas); grandchildren Joshua (Liz) Simpson, Trevor Simpson, Jessica Simpson, Stephanie (Jared) Barfuss; and five great-grandchildren Evan, Aiden, Evelyn, Colorado, and Huxley. He is also survived by his sister, Emma Jean, and five nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bob was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
