Robert James Pitcher, 93, went home to his Father in Heaven February 3, 2015. He was born to Arthur Henry Pitcher and Ellen Nelson Pitcher on January 4, 1922. Bob married Ruth Winn on April 20, 1946. They were later sealed in the Ogden Temple. He served four years during WWII as a Navy gunner and technician in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the American Legion for 27 years.
Bob taught his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren the true meaning of love. He traveled thousands of miles to support them in their various activities. He celebrated their successes and taught them to persevere through failure. He could fix anything, refinish anything, build anything, and grow anything. His children appreciate his example of humor, hard work, honesty, service, and determination. Dad and Grandpa, we are so grateful for the way you and Grandma have enriched our lives and loved us.
He is survived by his sweet wife, Ruth, sons Lee (Judy) Pitcher, Ted (Madilyn) Pitcher, Tom (Jill) Pitcher and daughters, Polly (Mark) Bailey and Nancy (Carl) Christensen. He was preceded in death by a treasured grandson, Bobby Pitcher, his parents, brothers Ron, Bill, Melvin and sisters Dorothy and Daisy.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, February 7, 2015 in the Smithfield First Ward Chapel, 79 East 200 South. Friends may visit prior from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary. Condolences may be sent to the family at
