Robert Dell Tripp

October 30, 1928 — October 6, 2005

Robert Dell (Sarge) Tripp, 77, of Richmond, passed
away suddenly of a heart attack, Thursday October 6,
2005. He was born April 30, 1928 in Richmond Utah to
Ernest Lymon and Leola Tripp.
Dell lived in Arimo, ID until he was 12 years old at
that time he moved back to the old family homestead in
Richmond. After high school he joined the US Army
serving with the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team
in the Korean War, making two jumps behind enemy lines
receiving a Purple Heart. He also served in the
Vietnam War where he received a Bronze Star with a V-
Device for Valor and his second Purple Heart. Between
the two tours of duty he returned to Richmond where he
fell in love with LuAnn Traveller, they were married
in the Logan Temple September 18, 1953. They were
blessed with four children. After retiring from the
Army in 1968, he began teaching ROTC at Logan High
School were he enjoyed his association with the
students and faculty and worked for the school
district for 23 years.
He was active in the community and served as Commander
of the American Legion, President of the Richmond
Lions Club, Member of the Richmond Riders Club, and
served on the committee for the Richmond Veteran’s
Memorial. He was an active member of the LDS Church
serving on the Stake High Council, Sunday School
President and Ward and Stake Young Men’s President.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, two daughters
and their spouses, Robert LeuDell and Marie Tripp of
Tucson, AZ., Ernest Rand and Lil Tripp, of Richmond.
Valerie and Jeff Nelson of Evanston WY, Pam and Brad
Kidd of Springville UT: fifteen grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister
Gloria and her husband Robert Green of Lakewood, CA;
brother Lynn and his wife Mary Tripp of Apache
Junction AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a
granddaughter Melissa Nelson. He enjoyed being
outdoors watching wildlife, hunting, camping, horses,
cooking and trips with his family and friends. He
spent many devoted years caring for his loving wife
who was stricken with MS at a young age.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on
Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at the Richmond Stake
Center. A viewing will be held on Monday, October 10,
2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Stake Center and
also before the services from 10:30-11:30 AM.
Interment will be at the Richmond Cemetery.
