Robin Curfew Tueller

June 12, 1940 — January 14, 2024

Logan, Utah

LOGAN:  Robinette (Robin) Curfew Tueller (83) passed from this life on January 14, 2024 with her eternal companion at her side.  Robin was born 12 June 1940 in the home of her maternal grandparents in Burley, Idaho.  She was the youngest of two daughters born to Gerald Lee Curfew and Ruth Olga Eleanor Meline.

Life suddenly changed when her father died from polio in September 1949 after a very short illness.  Her mother decided to move them back to Boise where Robin spent the remainder of her growing-up years. Not long after the move, her mother remarried to Hugh Ellison, who lovingly was called “Hughie.”

Music was an important part of their home. Robin was in the Boise High School accapella choir for two years.  During that time, she also sang in the Methodist youth choir.  Robin also developed a love for folk music and had numerus opportunities to perform around Boise.  During her senior year of high school, she performed every Saturday evening alternately on two local television shows.

Robin graduated from Boise High School in 1958 and decided she go to Logan and USU.  Drastic changes came in her life when she came to Logan and eventually joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1959.  Singing was still a big part of her life and through it she was in a musical where she met her future husband.

Robin married Rex Tueller in the Logan Temple in 1960.  She put her education on hold while Rex finished his degree before graduating and then being commissioned in the US Army in 1961. Over the next five plus years they saw some of the U.S. and the world thanks to the Army.

Their idealistic life ended abruptly when Rex got orders for Vietnam. They bought their current home before his departure and have lived there ever since.  Theirs was a busy household with five children.  It was a home where music and education were of utmost importance.

Once the children got older, Robin returned to USU to finish her degree.  She graduated in 1987 with a degree in Liberal Arts and an Accounting minor.  She then went to work for the next 12 years as a tax preparer at H & R Block, making many special friends who were her clients there.

Robin has served in many ways in the Church, but the one she loved the most was being a Primary chorister and helping children learn to sing and love the Primary songs.  Retirement brought the opportunity for Rex and Robin to serve as missionaries.  They first went to Manila, Philippines working in the area presidency office.  Next, they were coordinators of service missionaries for Northern Utah and Southern Utah, and their last mission was working in the office of the Illinois Peoria Mission.  There was also the opportunity to serve as officiators in the Logan Temple for nearly 12 years.

In 2008 Robin joined the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.  Despite being a convert to the Church, she had four pioneer lines through her father’s family.  She has been very involved in the organization ever since and especially with the Cache DUP Museum.  It allowed her to meet and learn to love many of the DUP daughters all over the valley.

Robin is survived by her husband Rex of 63 years, five children: Anne (Jason) Chapman, Robert (Corynne) Tueller, Michael (Marilee) Tueller, Kathie (Steven) Schmid, and Jon (Evelyn) Tueller, 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and her sister Sharlene Harvey.  She was preceded in death by her father Gerald Lee Curfew, mother Ruth Curlew Ellison, and step-father Hugh Ellison.

An evening viewing will be held on Jan. 28th at Allen Mortuary of North Logan, 420 E 1800 N, from 6-8 PM.  Funeral services will be held on January 29, at 11:00 AM at the Lundstrom Park 1st Ward chapel, 1260 N 1600 E Logan, Utah with a viewing prior from 9:00-10:30 AM.
