RoeMae Theobald Canfield passed away on November 16, 2010 in Logan, UT from complications associated with lung cancer. She was born to Evan Burgess and Estella Wright Theobald on October 27, 1934 in Hinckley, UT, the youngest of five children. The family moved to Provo, UT when she was eight years old. She graduated from Provo High School and attended Brigham Young University where she met and married Ronald V. Canfield on June 4, 1956 in the Salt Lake City Temple. She graduated from BYU with a degree in Elementary Education and taught school in Pensacola, Florida; Davis, California; Cairo,Egypt, and Ellis Elementary in Logan, Utah.
She and Ron experienced a wonderful life of companionship and traveled much of the world. She was a devoted companion to her husband and supported him through many years of schooling, always taking care of a growing family. They settled in Cache Valley in 1968 and raised their family. Her children brought great joy and satisfaction to her life. She made many baskets, cross-stitch pictures and quilts that her family will cherish for generations. In her later years she enjoyed many winters in St. George with her husband as the "queen of her doublewide" trailer he built for her. She enjoyed designing and redesigning their homes and creating projects for Ron to complete for her.
RoeMae was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many positions in the Relief Society, Young Women and Primary. She and her husband served two missions, the first in the country of Jordan and then in the London, England Temple. RoeMae was happiest when she was serving others and volunteered for many org;mi=tions throughout her life including P TA, North Logan Library, CAPSA, Logan, Regional Hospital, Adult ESL , . and literacy.
She has given birth to five children. The first was premature and did not survive. She is survived by her husband, Ronald and children Lisa (Scott) Peterson of Houston, Texas; Kenneth (Mirian) Canfield of Hyde Park, Utah; Ann Marie (Todd) Cutler of North Ogden, Utah, and Christopher (Rebecca) Canfield of North Salt Lake, Utah. She is also survived by a sister, Inez Fredrickson of Chico, CA, eighteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.
Funend services will be held at noon on Saturday in the North Logan Green Canyon Stake 10th Ward at 1550 E. 1900 North. There will be a viewing on Friday, November 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and prior to the 7: services. Both viewings will be held at the North Logan church house
